Communications
Two waiting list members sent checks which were handed over to Barbara Kraft to go to Peter Winkler.

Sycamore Islander
Editor John Thomson liked Tryon's version of the Islander and is interested in changing the format when he runs out of printed envelopes. Others endorsed the re-design.

Canoe Chair's Report
David Winer reported that the green Coleman canoe had been claimed. The meeting voted to give the 2-person kayak to Peter Fuchs. John Thomson reminded folks of the Tues. and Thurs. canoeing sessions at Fletcher's and Swain's respectively. David Winer is looking for someone who will patch the Club's aluminum canoes. Members are reminded that club canoes are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. At busy times, please try to work out use with others on the Island. It was suggested that if anyone wants to sell a canoe, they should put an ad in the Islander. Tryon will get cleaning supplies for the canoes.

House Committee's Report
Susan Garbini proposed setting the dates for the Fall Workfest. It will be held On Sat., Nov. 14 with a raindate of Nov. 21. She is also organizing folks to paint the locker room and bathroom upstairs. Susan figures it will be a two-day job and is looking for a volunteer to head up the work. Susan also bought a table for the deck.

Large Party Request
Marty Burgess requested permission to have an overnight camping party begin on Oct. 3 and stay until 2 p.m. on the 4th. Permission was granted.

Old Business
Dogs on the Island
Tryon read comments that had not been published in the Islander. The poll was 24-10, against. The vote at the meeting was 11-1, against changing the "dog rule."

Scenic Easement
Warren Brown expressed to Tryon, his offer to work with the Potomac Conservancy on the scenic easement. There was a broad discussion on the easement issue, covering many of the same points that have been raised in the past (see previous minutes). The general sense of the meeting was that members were not willing to re-open discussion on the easement. The following motion was made, to be voted on at the August meeting: Recognizing that no easement has been granted, it is moved that the Club not grant an easement and discontinue discussion on such easement.

The meeting adjourned at 9:36 p.m.

Next Meeting
The August meeting will be on the 12th at the Island, water level permitting.
