Sycamore Island Meeting Minutes
August 11, 1993
The meeting was called to order on Sycamore Island by President Tryon Wells at 8:02pm. Present were: Leah Hertz, Peter Jones, David Winer, Tryon Wells, Kathleen Peters, Betty Burchell, Johnna Robinson, Bill Eichbaum, Richard Finn, Gerry Barton.
The minutes of the July meeting were approved as printed in the August edition of The Sycamore Islander.
Reports
Membership Secretary Kathleen Peters reported that there were no additions and no subtractions this month. The waiting list currently stands at 109.
Caretaker Peter Jones said that it had been a-quiet month with little to report other than a tree that fell against the telephone line on the Maryland shore. He and Gerry Barton cleared it with some drama but no mishap.
Old Business
Discussion continued regarding clearing trees or branches for the purpose of developing some view of the river from the clubhouse. A motion against "clearing trees for a view" was voted upon and approved 5-2.
Bill Eichbaum volunteered to pursue an on-going club concern regarding the deterioration of the path down to the island.
More discussion and some good ideas were put forth regarding having the club sponsor some events for members both large and small. It was suggested that members be contacted that might be willing to help promote and organize such events.
The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
Tryon Wells, Acting Recording Secretary
