The meeting was called to order on Sycamore Island by Vice President Tryon Wells at 8:07 p.m. Present were: Gerry Barton, Jack Colwell, Peter Jones, Charles Trammell III, Holly Syrrakos, Ken Sale, Tryon Wells, Pat Barnett, Betty Burchell.

The minutes of the June meeting were approved as printed in the July edition of The Sycamore Islander.

Reports
Treasurer Ken Sale submitted his report for the month of June which showed a balance of $35,330.18 in the club's cash management account at the end of the month. He felt the club was doing well financially and that there was no impediment to replenishing the club's savings.

Membership Secretary Pat Barnett reported that the waiting list currently stands at 92! compared to 65 at this time last year. It was estimated that at the rate of about 15 new members admitted each year, the list is now over 6 years long - the most exclusive club in town?

House Committee Chairman Charlie Trammell reported that work on replacing the brick in the men's locker room was coming along. In addition 7 chairs were covered with new fabric, making 7 new comfortable chairs available to the club membership. There was discussion regarding purchasing some comfortable but inexpensive plastic stacking lawn chairs if a chair that met those qualifications could be found. It was widely agreed upon that many of the club's chairs were in advanced states of disrepair or were of uncomfortable design.

Old Business
Tryon Wells reported that a new ping-pong table could be purchased from the Sports Authority for $200.00 that seemed heavy duty and could also be folded up and wheeled away without effort. He was authorized to make the purchase.

New Business
Betty Burchell brought up the issue of waivers with a recommendation that signs be posted that advise guests to sign the waivers. In the subsequent discussion it was determined that all applications for membership should include a waiver as a good time to bring the issue to the awareness of members was when they were new. A waiver would also be sent to waiting list members who had applied for guest cards. It was recommended that a special notice should be printed in the Islander to clarify that anyone who comes to the island must sign a waiver. Members should note that waivers will now be located both in the upstairs clubhouse and in the screened porch below. Waiver language in a sign-up sheet was mentioned but further discussion on this and some other ideas was tabled.
