The meeting was called to order at the home of Waring and Cynthia Barnes by President Jack Sanders at 8:05 pm. Present were: Jack Sanders, Waring Barnes, Cynthia Barnes, Marilyn Fuchs, Jessie Bakeman, Peter Jones, Holly Syrakkos, Phil Jones, John Thomson, Brad Coolidge, Betty Burchell, Pat Barnett.

The minutes of the meeting of January 10, 1990 were accepted as printed in The Sycamore Islander of February, 1990.

Communications
Dick Stanton mentioned to John Thomson that Bob Farr's relatives were pleased with the obituary for Bob published in the February Islander.

Jack Hazard's daughter was also pleased by the mention of her father's passing in the Islander.

The Park Service would welcome assistance in clearing the towpath and the canal between Locks 6 and 7 while the canal is still drained.

Reports
Treasurer Ken Sale's report showed an operating balance of $22,315.10 in the club's Cash Management Account as of the end of January 1990.

Financial Secretary Marilyn Fuchs reported total deposits to the Club's account of $19,805. Of the 196 members who owe dues in the various membership categories, 128, or 65%, have made a payment as of February 14.

Membership Secretary Pat Barnett reported 2 resignations. The applications of two members to transfer from regular to inactive status were approved. One member was transferred to senior status. Four new members were elected to regular membership: Lydia Weber, Esther Delaplaine and Stan Cohen, Stephen and Kathleen Pauley, John and Anne Armstrong.

John and Martha Holdridge were advanced to senior membership.

Two membership matters concerning the question of divorce were clarified:

1. In the case of divorce of a couple on the waiting list, both individuals will be treated as separate applicants at the same position on the waiting list that they occupied prior to the divorce.

2. In the case of divorce of club members, both parties can remain members of the Club, and the additional member will be carried as an overage to the membership ceiling until a vacancy occurs.

Caretaker Peter Jones reported that the plans for the addition to the Caretaker's apartment are on the way from Architect John Weibenson to Captain John Matthews. Peter also reported continued work on the plumbing problem under the Caretaker's bathroom.

New Business
President Jack Sanders indicated that the Third Saturday project would be stuffing envelops with the new edition of the Club By-Laws and Standing Rules for mailing to members.

Betty Burchell advocated looking into the club becoming a member of Citizens for the Abatement of Aircraft Noise, pointing out that the Canoe Cruisers Association and many citizens associations are members. There is no financial commitment involved. Betty pointed out that CAAN advocates no late night noise and quieter jets, not scattering the planes or closing National Airport. Betty agreed to get a CAAN board member to give a brief presentation at the next meeting.

Jack Sanders thanked the Barnes for their hospitality, and the meeting adjourned for refreshments at approximately 9:15 pm.
